In recent years, the installation of publicly accessible defibrillators has become increasingly common across the UK. We’re pleased to announce that Marksbury Parish Council and VansGB have funded a defibrillator which has now been installed at Marksbury Business Centre.

These devices are designed to restore a normal heartbeat by delivering an electrical shock to the heart, potentially saving a person’s life when every second counts.
Studies have shown that the use of defibrillators within the first few minutes of a cardiac arrest can significantly increase the chances of survival. For every minute that passes without defibrillation, the survival rate decreases by 10%. Therefore, having a defibrillator nearby can be the difference between life and death.
Can anyone use a defibrillator?
Yes, modern defibrillators are designed to be user-friendly and can be used by anyone, even those without medical training. They typically come with clear voice and visual prompts that guide the user through the entire process, making them accessible to individuals of all backgrounds.
How to use the defibrillator
The first step in using a defibrillator is to recognize that someone is experiencing a cardiac arrest. Look for signs such as loss of consciousness, absence of pulse, and abnormal or absent breathing.
Call 999 (or 112) immediately to request an ambulance.
The 999 operator will give you instructions on how to retrieve the defibrillator.
